Defrosting Foods in a Microwave
Never defrost foods on the counter at room temperature. For gradual defrosting at a safe temperature, transfer frozen foods to the refrigerator for a day or two.
If you're short of time, microwaving is a safe way to defrost foods quickly.
First, remove food from store wrap and place it in a microwave-safe dish. Consult your oven manual for recommended defrosting times and power levels.
Several times during micro-defrosting, turn and rearrange food, and rotate the dish. Separate food items when possible and remove items as they defrost.
Since areas of food can become warm as they defrost in the microwave, cook the food immediately. Food is in a danger zone at temperatures
between 40°F and 140°F.
